Singer Demi Lovato has been rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles for an apparent heroin overdose, according to news reports. Only few details were immediately available.

The incident happened just before 12 p.m. PT on Tuesday when emergency services were called to Lovato’s home in the Hollywood Hills. She is reportedly being treated for an apparent heroin overdose.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Lovato was given Narcan, which first responders use to block the effects of opioids. There was no immediate word on her condition.

Lovato, who is 25 years old, has a lengthy history of substance abuse. In a song released last month, the singer revealed that she had suffered a relapse.

Other celebrities wrote supportive messages as news broke that Lovato had been rushed to hospital. “I love u [Demi Lovato],” singer Ariana Grande said in a tweet.

Singer Brad Paisley wrote: “My friend [Demi Lovato] is one of the kindest, most talented people I’ve ever met. Praying for her right now, addiction is a terrifying disease. There is no one more honest or brave than this woman.”
