European stock markets are down at close on Monday. The United Kingdom suffered losses in its mining, industrial metals and mining, and technology hardware and equipment sectors. The United Kingdom 100 hit a three-year low, losing 2.11% on the day.
Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) suffered the biggest loss, down 6.29%. The London Stock Exchange had 1,599 stocks fall in price, 577 gaining and 410 remaining unchanged.
Spain’s IBEX 35 hit a one-month low, losing 2.1% on the day. Obrascon Huarte Laine (BME:OHL) suffered the day’s biggest loss, down 7.23% on the day. The market suffered 173 losses, 35 gains and 8 stocks remained unchanged. Obrascon stock prices have hit a five-year low.
France’s markets were also down, with the CAC 40 losing 1.68% and the SPF 120 down 1.62%. France’s market suffered from plummeting oil prices, and the country’s oil and gas sectors suffered the biggest losses.
ArcelorMittal SA (ISPA) suffered a 6.26% loss, while the Paris Stock Exchange ended with 534 losses, 201 gains and 53 stocks that remained unchanged.
Italian markets were also down on the day, suffering major losses in technology, finance, and oil and gas industries. Italy 40 ended the day at a three-month low, down 2.32%. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (NYSE:FCAU) suffered a 5.05% loss, and the Milan Stock Exchange closed with 363 losses, 74 gains and two unchanged stocks.
