The U.S. Secret Service has launched an investigation after Anthony Senecal – who worked as Donald Trump’s personal butler for nearly two decades – called for President Barack Obama to be hanged and Muslims to be shot.

“This character who I refer to as zero should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term,” Senecal said in a Facebook posting. “Now comes Donald J Trump to put an end to the corruption in government!”

Senecal confirmed the authenticity of the posts to reporters and made further comments to NBC News, saying Obama should be “hung from the portico of the White Mosque”. He also said Muslims coming to the United States “ought to be shot at the shore.”

In older posts on Facebook, Senecal repeatedly called for Obama to be executed, calling him a “sleezy bastard” and a “Kenyan fraud”. He also called for former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to be hanged, referring to the Benghazi attack.

In another post, after riots hit Ferguson following the fatal police shooting of a black teenager, Senecal called for the city to be destroyed: “Move the sane people out during the day and carpet bomb the city from the face of the Earth at night—if you blow up the prosecutors, oh well !!!! Case closed !!!!!”

Nicole Mainor, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Secret Service, said the agency was aware of the comments and said an “appropriate investigation” would be conducted.

Asked for comment, Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks claimed that Senecal had not worked at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for years. “Nevertheless we totally and completely disavow the horrible statements made by him regarding the President,” she said.

Senecal worked for Trump for nearly 30 years, of which he worked 17 years as a personal butler for Trump at the businessman’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. He retired from his butler duties in 2009 but has since stuck around as a guide and unofficial historian.
