A taxi has struck pedestrians near Boston’s Logan International Airport, injuring at least 10 people, officials and witnesses say. Only few details were immediately available but there is no indication of a link to terrorism.
The incident happened just before 2 p.m. ET on Monday when officers were called to a vehicle that had struck a group of pedestrians near the Logan taxi pool in East Boston, just a short distance from Logan International Airport.
Boston Emergency Medical Services said at least 10 people had been taken to area hospitals, though there was no immediate word on their conditions. Massachusetts State Police said the victims had suffered injuries of a “varying severity.”
The accident happened in a break area where drivers typically gather.
There was no indication of a link to terrorism and investigators pointed to operator error as a likely cause. The driver – who was described by witnesses as an older man – remained at the scene and was being interviewed by police.
