According to the latest statistics, Facebook still tops the charts of all the social networks, ranked by number of active users.
Facebook reaches more than 1.4 billion active users
The chart below, published this month, shows the leading social networks ranked by active users. Unsurprisingly, Facebook still tops the charts, with 1.415 billion active users.
The second most popular in the world is Chinese network QQ, owned by Tencent. Even though most people in the western world have never even heard of QQ, it’s managed to rack up an equally impressive 829 million users, closely followed by social chat app WhatsApp (which is in fact owned by Facebook).
Despite Facebook’s large number of users, it has been struggling to monetise its members over recent years. Facebook has somewhat diversified into other areas in a bid to raise revenues, for example through mobile advertising and its other interests, like virtual reality headset maker Oculus, which the company bought last year.
Facebook doesn’t look like being in any danger of losing its crown of most popular social network any time soon, however.
