The Archbishop of Canterbury on Saturday declared Britain’s Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle to be husband and wife after the couple said “I will” in a ceremony watched by millions of people around the world.
“In the presence of God, and before this congregation, Harry and Meghan have given their consent and made their marriage vows to each other,” the Archbishop said. “They have declared their marriage by the joining of hands and by the giving and receiving of rings. I therefore proclaim that they are husband and wife.”
The ceremony took place at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel near London. The marriage, between the sixth-in-line to the British throne and a popular American actress, was seen live by millions of people across the world.
