A police report has been filed in connection with the alleged assault of Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields while attempting to ask a question of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, police in Florida say.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening when Fields is reported to have been pulled by her arm while attempting to ask Trump a question, and Washington Post reporter Ben Terris identified the person responsible as Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Fields later posted a picture on her Twitter account that showed her bruises, but Lewandowski has denied the allegations, calling the reporter an “attention seeker”. Terris, who stood nearby when the incident happened, has maintained that he witnessed Lewandowski pulling Field’s arm.

Fields filed a police report on Friday and Jupiter Police confirmed they were investigating an alleged misdemeanor battery at the Trump National Golf Club Jupiter. “Specific details concerning criminal investigative information is not releasable while the investigation is considered active,” police said.

Jupiter Police spokesman Adam Brown added that a police report outlining the nature of the incident would be released on Friday afternoon.
