An elderly man who was critically injured in Wednesday’s terror attack in London has died, raising the overall death toll to five, British police say. One other person remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), which is also known as Scotland Yard, said a 75-year-old man died of his injuries on Thursday evening. “The man had been receiving medical treatment in hospital following the attack and life support was withdrawn this evening,” a spokesperson said.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released. “Next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained family liaison officers,” the police spokesperson added.

A total of 5 people have now died after Wednesday’s attack in London, in which a man plowed his vehicle into pedestrians on a bridge before stabbing a police officer outside the UK parliament. The Islamic State group (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The deaths include the elderly man, 54-year-old Kurt Cochran from the United States, an unidentified woman in her 40s, and the attacker. Another 28 people were injured, of whom 6 remain in a critical condition, including one person who has life-threatening injuries.
