The Islamic State group (ISIS) has called for attacks against American voters on Election Day, saying it hopes Tuesday’s election will be “a dreadful calamity” and calling on Muslim Americans not to participate.

The group, through a lengthy statement in a special edition of its magazine, called on Muslims not to participate in the “rituals of democracy”, saying both Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump have vowed to “continue the war against Islam.”

The statement also blamed Muslims who in 2000 voted for George W. Bush, saying “they share in the crimes” committed against Muslims during his presidency. It noted that Muslims also voted for President Barack Obama, who ISIS says broke nearly every election promise, such as his promise to close Guantanamo Bay.

“Hence, as it is clear that the voter is … directly involved in the decision making process … the blood of Crusader voters is even more deserving of being spilled than the blood of Crusader combatants,” ISIS said. “May Allah make this year’s U.S. presidential election a dreadful calamity like no other to have struck America throughout its pathetic history.”

The statement further said ISIS believes there is “no difference” between Democrats and Republicans in regards to policies “against Islam”. “The only differences between Trump and Clinton are that Clinton is more skilled in ‘political correctness’, giving her leverage in the sorcery of hypocrisy,” it said.

As for Trump, ISIS called him “impulsive and unpredictable” in his behavior, but described his policies against ISIS as an attack on all Muslims. “He has yet to learn that what he refers to as ‘radical Islamic terrorism’ is nothing but the teachings of Islam, plain and simple,” the group said.
