Stocks in India were lower at close on Tuesday, as declines in the banking, IT and technology sectors dragged shares down. At closing, the Nifty 50 was down 0.09%, and the BSE Sensex 30 lost 0.17%.
TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS: TISC) was one of the top performers on the Nifty 50, ending the day up 6.77% to trade at 274.30. Vedanta Ltd (NS: VDAN) gained 3.88%, closing at 92.40, and Gail Ltd (NS: GAIL) closed the day up 3.46% at 372.25.
Among the worst performers on the index were Bank of Baroda (NS: BOB), down 2.05% to 148.10. The State Bank of India (NS: SBI) ended the day down 1.34% to 217.75, while the Punjab National Bank (NS: PNBK) fell 1.95%, ending at 110.60.
On the BSE Sensex 30, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO: TISC) was also among the top performers, gaining 6.65% to trade at 274.10. Vedanta Ltd (BO: VDAN) also led the gainers, up 4.05% at 92.50, and Gail Ltd (BO: GAIL) ended the day at 372.85, up 3.60%.
The worst performers on the BSE were Coal India Limited (BO: COAL), which was down 1.35% to 326.05. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO: HLL) was also down 1.09% to 847.80 at closing, while the State Bank of India (BO: SBI) lost 1.22% to end at 218.25.
