Stand-up comedian Charlie Murphy, who is best remembered for his appearances on “Chappelle’s Show” and who is the older brother of actor Eddie Murphy, has died after a battle with cancer. He was 57 years old.
Charlie passed away at a New York City hospital where he was receiving treatment for leukemia, his publicist Domenick Nati told BNO News. Other details about Charlie’s death were not immediately available.
Charlie Murphy is best remembered for being a writer and cast member of the Comedy Central sketch-comedy series “Chappelle’s Show,” which made him famous. He went on to host the “Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy” series and the stand-up special “Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize.”
In addition to stand-up comedy, he made appearances in a number of movies and TV series. Charlie was also the older brother of actor and comedian Eddie Murphy.
