The Central American Football Union (UNCAF), which represents national football teams from seven Central American nations, has decided to support Gianni Infantino in FIFA’s presidency election.

The presidents of the seven national football federations met in Panama City on Monday and unanimously decided to support the candidacy and work plan of Infantino, who is currently the general secretary of European football body UEFA, UNCAF said.

Infantino is one of five candidates for the February 26 election. Other candidates include Prince Ali Al Hussein, who finished second in last year’s election, Asian Football Confederation President Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, former FIFA executive Jérôme Champagne, and South African businessman Tokyo Sexwale.

More than 200 votes will be cast in next month’s election, and the Central American Football Union represents 7 votes.
