At least three people have been killed after a small plane crashed into trailers at a mobile home park in Florida, officials say. It is feared that the death toll will rise.

The accident happened at about 5:35 p.m. ET when a small aircraft crashed into two trailers at the Mar Mak Trailer Park, causing a large fire that partly destroyed the residences. The type of aircraft has not yet been confirmed.

Lori Wilkerson, manager at the Mar Mak Mobile Home Park in Lake Worth, told the Sun Sentinel newspaper that at least 3 bodies had been recovered by late Tuesday night. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue would only say there are “multiple” victims.

One of those killed is believed to be 21-year-old Banny Galicia, who was asleep when the plane crashed into her family’s residence. But it remains unclear how many people were on the plane and in the trailers that were impacted by the crash.

“I was out front of my friend’s house smoking a cigarette when we heard this big plane come crashing down, and we thought it was going to do like one of those tricks or whatever, and instead of doing a trick, it literally went straight up and then came crashing straight down into someone’s house,” a witness told WPEC-TV.

Rescue workers are expected to continue searching the crash site throughout the night.
