Actor Ken Berry, who is best remembered for his roles in “F Troop,” “Mama’s Family,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and “Mayberry R.F.D.,” has died, according to people close to him. He was 85 years old.
“With very deep sorrow, I must inform friends of Ken Berry that he died a short time ago,” his ex-wife Jackie Joseph-Lawrence said on Saturday night. Details about the cause and place of his death were not immediately known.
“We are at a true loss for words,” said Larry Storch, who starred alongside Berry in the 1960s TV series F Troop. “Ken, we hope you know how much you were loved. Goodnight Captain. We miss you already.”
Berry portrayed Captain Wilton Parmenter in “F Troop,” Sam Jones in the 1960s sitcom “The Andy Griffith Show” and its spin-off “Mayberry R.F.D.,” and Vinton Harper in the 1980s sitcom “Mama’s Family.”
