Three people in Texas are dead after a woman allegedly shot her younger son as well as her older son’s wife before turning the gun on herself, police say. Two children who were also present were found unharmed.

The incident was first reported at about 6:20 p.m. CT on Tuesday when a man called 911, reporting that he had found three bodies at a home in the 11000 block of Dorrance in Meadows Place, which is southwest of Houston.

“The male caller stated he came home to discover his wife, mother and younger brother deceased inside the home by apparent gunshot wounds,” said Caitilin Espinosa, a spokeswoman for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. “He also advised there were a toddler and a baby at the home who were unharmed.”

Officers responded to the scene and confirmed that three people were deceased, and that two young children were also in the home but unharmed. It is believed that the mother shot her younger son and her older son’s wife before turning the gun on herself, Espinosa said.

The bodies were sent to the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office and investigators are awaiting results from autopsies. “The case remains under investigation,” Espinosa added.
